Spotlight on One Young World
Steven Sokol, president and CEO of the World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh, Rebecca Lucore, executive director of the Bayer USA Foundation and Neil Karls, a finance staff associate with UPMC Mercy and a delegate at this year's summit discuss the value that One Young World brings to those in attendance. Our Region's Business is a Sunday-morning business affairs program co-produced by the Allegheny Conference on Community Development and WPXI-TV that aims to play a positive role in the Pittsburgh region by providing business news, information and commentary in a lively and entertaining format. The program is hosted by veteran broadcast journalist Bill Flanagan, who is executive vice president, corporate relations at the Allegheny Conference and its affiliated organizations. |
One Young World Plenary Sessions: Topics
This year, One Young World conducted its own survey to assess the topics that matter most to the Ambassadors. Additionally, social media was used to poll opinions and decide the themes of the main sessions. As a result, One Young World 2012 will hold Plenary Sessions on the following seven topics:

Pittsburgh hosted 1,200 future leaders from 182 countries, Oct. 18-22, making it one of the largest representations of countries other than the Olympics and United Nations.
The One Young World Pittsburgh Partnership is a consortium of local companies, non-profits, and community organizations that worked together to bring One Young World to Pittsburgh. The founding partners include the
One Young World youth reporters were spotted daily during the One Young World Summit. These high school students received credentials that allowed them to cover summit speeches and presentations, including one by former president Bill Clinton.
The October 2012 Pittsburgh Magazine special section covers the upcoming agenda items and much of what has gone into preparing to welcome 1,500 delegates from 196 countries.
In 2010 and 2011, the topics for the six Plenary Sessions were decided by the Founders on the basis of a Global Consultation Process, which was carried out by YouGovStone.
