World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh Celebrates 90 Years

The World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh is celebrating our 90th anniversary of connecting Pittsburghers to each other and to the world. Just one day isn’t enough to recognize so many years — our 90 for 90 anniversary celebration will last for 90 days!

From July 13 to October 11, the Council will promote and host activities that connect people to each other, their local communities, and the outdoors. Learn how you can join us!

90 Activities for 90 Years

Every day during our anniversary celebration, we will be promoting globally-minded podcasts and movies, virtual events around the world, and in-person activities you can do in Pittsburgh or in your own community.

Look on our website for a weekly roundup of events at the beginning of the week, and follow us on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook for a new activity each day.

90 for 90 Virtual Challenge

Sustainable ways of getting around  are simple and affordable ways to work toward the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); they promote good health and wellbeing, make job opportunities and human services more accessible, and improve air quality and road safety.

The World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh believes getting to know the world around us starts with the world right beneath our feet. That’s why as part of our 90 for 90 anniversary celebration, we invite you take on our challenge to log 90 miles in 90 days by walking, running, biking, kayaking, or anything else that gets you moving! That’s only one mile per day! You can register to log your miles from July 13 – October 11 using the atlasGO app. REGISTER NOW!

The Council will also host three free in-person bike rides, in partnership with City of Asylum, Healthy Ride, PUMP, and the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh:

These free events will feature stop-talks on Pittsburgh’s global connectivity, and complimentary bikes will be available for those who need, courtesy of Healthy Ride.

2nd Annual Summit

From September 28 – October 1, this year’s Summit will highlight the five core global issues the Council’s public programming has been addressing in 2021 – Governance & Diplomacy, Human Rights, Immigration, Resiliency, and Youth. LEARN MORE
