2015-2016 International Youth Forum Series

educationslider_IYFIn late September, the UN General Assembly formally adopted the Global Goals for Sustainable Development, replacing the prior Millennium Development Goals. The Goals are set to guide development through 2030 and provide a framework for governments to create policy directed towards eliminating extreme poverty, fighting inequality, and addressing climate change. The 17 Goals set objectives for improvement in areas such as food security, healthcare, education, gender equality, and using resources in a responsible and equitable manner.

This year’s International Youth Forum series will feature 90 minute video conference sessions with students participating from local and international sites. During the first session, students will hear a briefing on the Global Goals. In the following two sessions, students will discuss the goals that resonate with them and their communities. Between the third and final sessions, students will move from learning and discussing to designing and implementing actions. At the end of the series, students will have the opportunity to showcase their actions.

Youth Forum Series Dates:

-October 22, 2015
-December 17, 2015
-February 9, 2016
-April 12, 2016
