THE ROLE OF THE U.S. IN PROMOTING WOMEN, PEACE & SECURITY AROUND THE WORLDSep 3, 2020 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Violence and discrimination towards women globally have been declared a public health emergency by the World Health Organization. The abuse of women, whether physical, economic, or emotional, unfortunately, poses a serious threat to the well being of women in all corners of the globe.
Kelley E. Currie, appointed Ambassador-at-large for global women’s issues by President Donald Trump in 2019, will join the World Affairs Council, to explain the plans and ideas behind the U.S. Strategy on Women, Peace, and Security to promote women participation in civic and economic life to make nations around the world more peaceful for all.
The Council, in partnership with the City’s Gender Equity’s Commission and The Women & Girls Foundation, will host this event for free. Please join us to learn insightful information about women’s rights issues around the globe and relevant information to think about the U.S. role in helping other countries fight human rights abuses. This event will be a webinar and we encourage you to ask the ambassador questions using the chat feature during the program.
