Special Seminar and Video Conference

Jessica Jackley Co-founder of Kiva, the revolutionary microlending website, and author of Clay Water Brick Hosted by North Allegheny Senior High School educationslider_jackely

Are you interested in having a unique career while pursuing your passion? Through sharing about the inspirational career path that led her, just after graduation, to create Kiva, the world’s first p2p microlending website, Jessica Jackley will help students realize that they, too, can synthesize their skills to do what they love and have a meaningful profession. Jackley– who studied philosophy and art, saw microfinance firsthand in Africa, and earned an MBA while launching Kiva—can attest to the importance of using a diverse and seemingly unrelated set of skills to build a career. Her skills, creativity, and passion have led her to become one of the world’s leading female entrepreneurs.

In this session and video conference, Jackley emphasizes that it is not about what one has, but what one does. Following her remarks, students will have the opportunity to ask questions during a moderated discussion. Students attending the event in person may purchase a book at a discounted price and have it signed by the author.
