Join the World Affairs Council for a special luncheon with Mayor William Peduto, who is part of a global coalition of city leaders committed to mitigating climate change amid urbanization.

A participant in the Compact of Mayors’ Paris Climate Summit for Local Leaders, Mayor Peduto will share his insights on the landmark Paris Agreement resulting from the 21st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP21).

What does the Paris Agreement mean for Pittsburgh? What are the action plans to address climate change issues in our region? How is Pittsburgh leading the drive for environmental sustainability locally and around the world?

Through his many years of work representing and working in City Council, Mayor Peduto has had extensive experience in helping transform Pittsburgh’s economy into a Med/Ed New Economy. By establishing “community-based” development plans and encouraging the investment into niche industries, Mayor Peduto has had hands-on experience in building a New Pittsburgh. From co-creator and co-chair of the City’s Comprehensive Climate Action Plan to writing the legislation to protect Pittsburgh’s unique green hillsides — Mayor Peduto has championed the protection and enhancement of Pittsburgh’s new reputation as a leader in green initiatives.
