Report From Asia

Feb 25, 2016 9:00 am - 9:45 am

Special Seminar and Video Conference

Ted Anthony
Asia-Pacific News Director, The Associated Press

Hosted by Hampton High School

How might living abroad make one a better American? What do students today need to know about social media and politics in Asia? With the media focusing on the growing influence of China, escalating tensions between North and South Korea, and concerns about terrorism, which stories should students be following?

Ted Anthony currently oversees the Asia-Pacific news operations of The Associated Press — video, photos, and text, with nearly 200 staff and freelancers, all working together to tell important and complex stories covering North Korea to India, and Japan to the Pacific Islands. He has reported and edited from more than 25 countries and spent lengthy periods on assignment in Afghanistan and Iraq after 9/11. He also speaks frequently about journalism and why it must remain a fundamental and relevant part of the world. He and his family currently divide their time between Bangkok and their home in Hampton Township.

During this seminar and video conference, Mr. Anthony will provide a briefing on how Asia is directly relevant to Americans and discuss his experiences as an American in Asia. Following his remarks, students will have the opportunity to ask questions during a moderated discussion.
