Rethinking U.S. Nuclear Policy & Response to Current ThreatsSep 14, 2020 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
In today’s world, skyrocketing technological advances and rocky international relations mean that the threat of nuclear warfare is a potential reality for everyone. However, the education provided to students and communities at large about nuclear weapons is very limited. Do nuclear weapons make us safer or less safe? Should our country rely on the current nuclear policy to address the most pressing threats we currently face?
Moderator Dr. Ariel Armony, Vice Provost for Global Affairs and Director of University of Pittsburgh’s Center for International Studies alongside Former Secretary of Defense Bill Perry and Ploughshares Fund Policy Director, Tom Collina, authors of the book, The Button, will join The World Affairs Council on September 14th as they address these questions, discuss the nuclear policy, and suggestions for reallocating investments in nuclear policy.
This event is open to all, and we encourage students and young adults as current leaders and future policymakers to join this conversation to learn more about this topic and to ask questions to our guest speakers. Participants get the chance to buy The Button with a 30% discount. We will share the discount code after registration!
