Sustainability Summit for Youth: Global Solutions to Combat Climate Change

Apr 30, 2019 9:00 am - 1:45 pm

There is no shortage of issues facing people across the globe, but there is one issue that affects us all – climate change. There is a consensus among scientists that climate change is a reality and is a direct result of our actions, primarily our reliance on fossil fuels, such as coal, oil, and gas. Recent studies have found that the impacts of climate change are no longer in the distant future; consequences of climate change pose an imminent threat to civilization and demand action by countries around the world.

Please join us as we think through ways to combat climate change. The day will consist of a panel of speakers that will discuss climate change and the environmental impacts, and will cover topics such as renewable energy and other sustainable solutions. Students will discover ways in which they can become involved in combating climate change. They will also participate in a World Climate Simulation produced by Climate Interactive and MIT Sloan School of Management, a role playing exercise of the UN climate negotiations.

This event is offered at NO CHARGE to students and teacher chaperones and lunch will be provided. Please inquire if you are in need of subsidy to cover bus transportation.

Each student must have a signed media release and liability waiver that can be found here. Please bring signed waivers with you on the day of the event.
