Special Events

eventsIn addition to regular programming, the World Affairs Council hosts special events. These events cover a variety of subjects and tend to draw large audiences from throughout the Pittsburgh community.  Recent events have included:

Dr. Jessica Tuchman Mathews, President of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and Ambassador Thomas Pickering, former Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs, for a discussion concerning Iran’s nuclear ambitions, the ISIS threat, and Russia. The event was held at Point Park University.

events2The Council hosted Google’s Global Head of Free Expression and International Relations, Ross LaJeunesse, for a lively discussion about internet freedom at the Kelly Strayhorn Theater.

Religion scholar and author Reza Aslan spoke about the politics of Jesus at the New Hazlett Theater.
