The World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh creates fora for dialogue about global issues. Its programs and activities are designed to inform and engage the Pittsburgh community by providing them with the opportunity to interact with high-level experts.
The Council regularly hosts Breakfast Briefings and Luncheon Discussions featuring ambassadors, top-level cabinet members, renowned policy analysts, journalists, and academics, as well as captains of industry for up-to-date assessments of developments on the world stage. These events tend to take place at downtown locations, but have also been held in other parts of the region.
In an effort to attract and engage younger and mid-career professionals, the Council regularly hosts evening events, which take place in informal settings around town and are highly interactive. They provide a substantive discussion as well as a unique networking opportunity in an engaging environment.
In addition, the Council works with companies throughout the region to offer specialized briefings for senior staff as well as the entire company. The Council provides a unique opportunity for Pittsburgh professionals to gain access to noted thinkers and practitioners in government, policy, academia, and business.
The Council also works to expand its reach by partnering with local libraries to offer programming on key international issues to the community at large.
