In this episode Angélica sat down with Karin Olofsdotter, the newly appointed Swedish Ambassador to the United States. Sweden and the United States possess a long diplomatic partnership that was forged when Sweden became one of the first nations to recognize American independence in 1783. Since, this important partnership has been demonstrated on issues that include trade, the environment and defense. In addition to the history of Swedish-American relations, Ambassador Olofsdotter discusses political issues facing both Sweden and their partnership with the United States during the current administration.

Ambassador Olofsdotter earned a B.A. in Psychology, Economics and Russian from the University of California Los Angeles. In addition to her native Swedish, Ambassador Olofsdotter also speaks Russian, French and English. She joined the Swedish Foreign Service in 1994 and has served in posts to the European Union, NATO and as Ambassador to Hungary before becoming Ambassador to the United States.
