The World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh’s Global Learning Fund allows us to offer a number of engaging and unique summer programs for our region’s youth. Read on to learn more about the opportunities our students will have this summer!
International Travel Scholarship Programs
In collaboration with World Learning’s Experiment in International Living, the Council has selected six high-need Global Travel Scholars for the summer of 2017. These students will engage in three to five weeks of guided educational travel in Brazil, Germany, India, Jordan, Mongolia, and Vietnam. While abroad, the students will live with host families, participate in community service projects, and enjoy special travel opportunities.
Domestic Travel Scholarship Programs
The Council will offer an even larger number of students opportunities to gain international perspective within the U.S. through domestic travel.
Through a partnership with Luminari, students will travel to Washington D.C., where they discuss and debate domestic and international policy issues and take part in workshops and simulations that highlight advocacy and action.
Additionally, we have partnered with the Pennsylvania School for Global Entrepreneurship at Lehigh University, and the Governor’s Institute of Vermont, both of which offer a residential learning experience with a global emphasis.
Local Partnership Programs
The Council has also partnered with local organizations such as Innovation Works (Startable Pittsburgh), City of Asylum, and Ascender to expose students to educational summer programming focused on global affairs through entrepreneurship, culture, and the arts.
Donate to the Global Learning Fund today so that we can continue to provide transformative summer experiences for Pittsburgh’s youth!
