Pittsburgh, PA – The nonpartisan, nonprofit World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh is launching its 90th anniversary celebration campaign, 90 for 90, from July 13 to October 11. Over a 90-day period, the Council will promote and host activities that explore Pittsburgh’s global history and encourage people to connect with their community and each other. Individuals who care about global learning and want to support the Council’s work can create their own profile to track their miles and raise funds for the campaign using the free atlasGO app.
The Council is hosting a virtual challenge to log 90 miles in 90 days, as well as throwing a 90th birthday party at City of Asylum’s Tent on Sampsonia Way on September 18 from 4-7PM, and featuring its 2nd Annual Summit from September 28 – October 1. Throughout the campaign, the Council will spotlight daily global learning opportunities and local cultural events on its website and social media. The anniversary celebration is being organized in partnership with City of Asylum, Healthy Ride, PUMP, and YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh.
“Ninety years of convening on global issues is an incredible milestone and one we are thrilled to celebrate in community as part of our 90 for 90 campaign,” says World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh, President & CEO, Betty Cruz. “As we reflect on our legacy, we are also excited about the future we are building with our partners, community, and young people to realize our vision of a globally minded and globally connected world that is equitable and just for all.”
